Busy Times for the Summer Hi All! This summer has been a busy and productive time. I'm really excited about the direction of the R&B group I play in, Soul Alley. The final touches to the Soul Alley CD have been approved and the copies are being printed. The CD Release will be in late October at the HOUSE OF BLUES FOUNDATION ROOM. Soul Alley has been on the move this summer resulting in a residency at one of our favorite hangs for good music and BBQ - Smoken Joes. Look for us there on Tuesday nights in September. Lead singer Alley Stoetzel will be featured on several radio shows around the Boston area. Exciting news for sure.
Also this summer, I have been recording with saxophonist Chris Pitts. He has been working on a Fusion-Funk project for a while now and his vision is finally playing out in the studio. I'm really excited to be a part of this. Its fun to be able to morph into a different type of player and just let loose a little more in this kind of open setting.
Speaking of style stretching, I've begun playing with the jazz group Boris Bop. They have a blend of post-bop, latin, fusion that is challenging and fulfilling to take part in. It keeps me on my toes and constantly working on my chops to keep up with these guys.
Jozef Nadj released his CD of electric violin, fusion inspired techno-funk. I had the pleasure of playing in his band for his CD release party. Looking forward to doing it again. A great writer and performer to keep an eye on.
Earlier this summer, I started working with the GB band Clockwork, doing weddings and functions around the Boston Area. A great group of people and great time playing. Top notch pros who have fun doing what they do best- get a party started.
Phew! see what I mean. Its been busy. Well, off to the lake and out in the boat. Time to enjoy the sun! ... Til next time
Wally's Jazz Cafe Justin will be playing with "Jose Ramos and the Special Blend" every monday night down at Wally's for the month of July.

Alley Blues Live at Keene Music Festival 2009 Alley Blues performance at the 2009 Keene Music Festival has been released as a full length album. Some burning takes of many songs from the upcoming studio album are featured on this recording as well as some favorites. We are really excited about this recording. Performing with Legendary R&B Group The Spinners I am honored to be performing with the award winning R&B Group, The Spinners on Nov. 19th at Kowloon on RT.1. It will be there only performance in the New England region this year. Should be a blast!
